Martyn and Andrew Volunteering

A couple friends of mine, Martyn Lenoble and Andrew Clark, are in town volunteering. They got stuck in the Kids for Obama section (must be their youthful good looks).
Martyn is from Amsterdam, speaks in a thick Danish accent, and is missing one of his front teeth, which means that he has a slight whistle when pronouncing the letter “s.” Andrew speaks in a quiet monotone.
On a Sunday at 1 PM, most people aren’t home. In the first couple of hours, Martyn’s calls are answered five times. He’s hung up on twice. He speaks to three people — one is for Barack, one for Hillary, and one is a Republican. Boy, this race is close!
Phone Banking is a bit complicated in Texas, because you actually have to vote twice: there’s a primary, and then at night there’s a caucus. The campaign calls this the Texas Two Step.
Martyn dials the phone and a man with a thick Southern accent answers.
“Are you calling to tell me to vote for Barack?” he shouts angrily.
“Well…” says Martyn.
“I wouldn’t vote for him if he were running for dog catcher! Don’t ever call here again!” And with that, he hangs up.
Martyn relays the conversation to Andrew. They crack up.
“You should call him back,” says Andrew. “And say, ‘Sir, are you sure? He’s real fast!”
“And he hates dogs!”
