Senator Barack Obama claimed the Democratic presidential nomination Tuesday night; he is now one step closer to becoming the nation’s first African-American president. “Tonight we mark the end of one historic journey with the beginning of another — a journey that will bring a new and better day to America,” he said.

Senator Hillary Clinton did not concede the race and, despite speculation, hasn’t discussed the possibility of running as vice president.

Amanda said: Being at that Rally last night was the most inspirational event that I have ever experienced. The atmosphere was unbelievable and Barack Obama was so powerful and moving. Last night was the first political rally I have been to and I promise it won't be the last. This is the first time in a while that I have honestly felt proud to be an American and I felt hope for my future. I am a college student and Barack understands the hardships of students that the Republican leaders cant seem to grasp. For the sake of the future of all students and children, I pray Barack is elected and I know I will do my part in making that happen!

Andrea C. said: Congratulations Barack Obama, I am a 63 year old African American female, and I am blessed to have witnessed this great event. It was a bumpy ride, but ,OH WHAT A RIDE. Obama is a superb driver and he navigated the sharp curves in this campaign well and with finesse. As we continue this journey let us focus and not get caught up the distractions as we stay the course. We will pull into the driveway of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and cross that threshold with respect. I pray God's Blessings upon Barach Obama and America

Yolanda Satterwhite said: There are MANY African-Americans who did not live to see this. Although just the nomination, there are MANY who are sitting on the edge of their chairs; biting their nails; PRAYING and yes, still DREAMING about a Black/African American President and Family in the White House... CONGRATULATIONS TO OBAMA FAMILY! FOOD FOR THOUGHT... When you first saw the commercial of BILL CLINTON and GEORGE BUSH SR., although together for a "GOOD CAUSE" (Katrina survivors) - DID YOU REALLY WONDER ABOUT WHY or WHERE THEIR RELATIONSHIP WOULD GO or END? DID YOU UNDERSTAND IT WOULD CONTINUE THROUGH THE 2008 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION AND THAT WITH THE "SILENT" BUT DEADLY POWER OF THE BUSHES, HILLARY JUST MIGHT TRY TO PULL OFF SOMETHING REALLY NASTY BEFORE THIS IS ALL OVER AND BARACK IS IN OFFICE?

Yolanda Anguiano said: I have waited for this day since the 2004 Democratic convention when I first heard Barack speak. I will be so proud to see Barack and Michelle and their girls in the Whitehouse. I am Latina and know that most Latinos will support Barack Obama - I'll be working it! It will do so much for all our children to see the first family a family of color. God Bless you Obama family. Thank-you Mr Dippy for getting us through the rough times. I would log on and be inspired! It's a tough road ahead. We all have to do our part to make this happen.
